Who Can Use Career Services?
We encourage all current URI students and graduate students, as well as alumni within a year of graduation, to use Career Services as soon as their first year on campus! All majors and class levels may use services, including freshmen Alumni (see alumni link at left).
How Can First-Year Students Use Career Services?
First-year students should contact Career Services as soon as possible in their academic careers. Career Advisors will assist students to research and choose a major, find part-time jobs, begin researching potential careers, and completing career self-assessments. In addition, workshops on basic resume writing, interview skills, and what to do at job fairs will be helpful to first-year students. We recommend all first-year students create their free, confidential accounts on RhodyNet in order to keep up-to-date with career events and workshops, and to search and apply for part-time jobs, summer jobs and more. Their accounts will continue throughout their academic years at URI, and the more familiarity they obtain with the system, the better the results.
