SUMMER OF NETWORKING & PROFESSIONALISM The Financial Women's Association (FWA) Wall Street Exchange (WSE) Summer Program. WSE is a career development program designed to augment the summer internship work experience of select qualified students who are between their junior and senior years of college and who are employed in the New York metropolitan area. WSE IS NOT AN INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY. The WSE is an exciting opportunity for participants to enhance job search skills while learning to think strategically about career choices. The program consists of eight weekly events designed to strengthen the skills necessary for returning College Seniors to execute a successful undergraduate full time job search in financial services and related fields. Topics covered in formal education programs have included resume writing, interview techniques, business etiquette and more. The opening reception is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, 2008. The closing event will take place on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON MAY 2, 2008 AT THE FWA OFFICE! To qualify for participation in the Wall Street Exchange, an applicant must have the following: · An interest in exploring careers in finance or business · Minimum cumulative G.PA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale · Completed Junior year in college · Secured a summer position in the New York City metropolitan area with a financial services company or have a financial position with a non- financial services company. STUDENTS NEED NOT WAIT TO APPLY WHILE FINALIZING SUMMER EMPLOYMENT The prerequisite for qualification is a summer position in the New York City metro area with a financial services company or a financial position with a non-financial services company. Applicants who are completing the job interview process will be considered for the Wall Street Exchange Program. Summer job employment status will be confirmed in early June when the College Connections Committee contacts applicants with follow-up questions or to notify applicants of acceptance to the program. ACCEPTANCE TO WSE IS COMPETITIVE. A COMPLETE APPLICATION WILL ENHANCE A STUDENT’S CANDIDACY A completed application form, two recommendations and an official transcript are required for consideration to the WSE. If all application materials are not enclosed, students must include a personal statement explaining the omission and the expected timing for receipt of those items. If particular program qualifications are not met, students may explain in writing why their candidacy should still be considered by the Committee.
