Regardless of the industry or field you’ll be entering, there are universal skills that employers look for in candidates. CCEE collaborated with Military and Veteran Education (MAVE) to create a professional development checklist to help support students with military experience transition to URI and a new professional career.
Professional Check List by Year

- Complete the TypeFocus Work Environment Assessment Module
- Revise your resume using the Writing the Resume Module
- Join the Student Veteran Organization or other student organizations on campus
- Complete the Networking Module
- Create your LinkedIn Profile for veterans
- Attend a networking or professional development event
- Complete the Career Competencies Module
- Apply and complete an internship experience. You may be eligible to earn credit through our ITR Internship Program
- Make an appointment with your Career Education Specialist for a resume review
- Conduct an with a professional in your field of interest
- Attend a career or internship fair
