The GEMS-Net Program is seeking a highly organized, adaptable, and self-motivated Program Assistant to join our team!
GEMS-Net, within the College of Education, partners with scientists, engineers, and school districts across the state. We support K-8 science teachers and lead Professional Learning Workshops on campus. Our office and workshops are in Pastore Hall on the University of Rhode Island’s Kingston Campus. Program Assistants will support our program by helping team members prepare for workshops for Rhode Island science educators. Job duties include preparing science workshop materials, setting up elementary science classroom experiments, and printing handouts and packets for upcoming workshops. Program Assistants will organize science workshop supplies upon their return to our office and lab space. Program Assistants will also support in caring for small living organisms in the spring (including plants, butterflies, fish, and snails) that teachers learn about in workshops.
We have a collaborative, passionate, inclusive, and supportive group of educators on our team to support you, and there are opportunities to develop your skills, collaborate with educators and workshop facilitators, and network in the fields of education and science.
Position Logistics:
Program Assistants will work 5-10 hours per week on a schedule that fits your needs during the Fall 2026 semester.
There is the opportunity to renew the position in subsequent semesters.
The start date will be the last week of August or the first week of September, depending on your availability.
