Hillel, the Jewish Student Center at URI, seeks a chef/kitchen manager. Responsible for:

  • Coordinating menus and shopping lists for Hillel meal related programs with Hillel staff
  • cooking the food for these programs in the Hillel kitchen
  • dish washing
  • maintaining kitchen cleanliness and food safety
  • organizing/keeping track of kitchen supplies and pantry items

Programs include but are not limited to bi-weekly Friday night dinners, Jewish holidays, and monthly Sunday brunches. The Kitchen Manager/Chef also build relationships with students interested in cooking and finds and creates opportunities to bring these students into the kitchen to cook. Cooking experience, creativity and flexibility, and knowledge or willingness to learn about Jewish dietary laws (kashrut) are essential.

Approximately 6-10 hours per week while classes are in session. Hours will vary from week to week depending on programming schedule.
