Brown Early Identification Program (BEIP) Applicant Readiness and Reflection Form

Through the Early Identification Program, Brown University seeks to broaden access to medical education by identifying promising students whose backgrounds and experiences reflect the diversity of Rhode Island’s communities, specifically those historically underrepresented in medicine.

This survey contains about 40 questions and should take 1-2 hours to complete.
We recommend that this is completed on a desktop or laptop, opposed to a mobile device (phone, iPad, tablet).

Before beginning this survey, please ensure you have done the following:

  • Updated your Handshake profile with your most current information
  • Completed an updated resume/CV
  • Written a current draft of your personal statement (5,300 character limit)
  • Obtained copies of unofficial transcripts from all institutions you have attended

You will be asked to upload your resume/CV, personal statement, and all transcripts to the documents section of your Handshake profile.

You will also need to request three (3) Letters of Recommendation from individuals who can write a strong letter of support on your behalf. We strongly recommend that you have at least two (2) URI faculty letters, and that one of them is an instructor from the science(s) (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Neuroscience are examples). Please direct your letter writers to submit them on our website.
